DBA’s Traffic Section is advising on a scheme that could see Formula 1 cars and street legal machines like Ferraris zipping along the SECC and Glasgow Harbour road networks. Of course the originator of this fine idea, which could take place by 2011, is an Italian.

Castle Cement
Our Structures Department have recently completed a prestigious new £1.5M facility for Castle Cement on behalf of Peter D Stirling at Mossend, providing 3 storage silos each with 1100 tonnes capacity. The cement is delivered by rail overnight and pumped into the silos for distribution by road. Each silo is over 35m high (8 double decker buses!). The foundation solution involved the use of large diameter piles which required the use of pre-boring to overcome extremely dense fused slag. The piling contractor was ROger Bullivant; foundations and ground slabs by I & H Brown; main contractor McCrory Engineering (Belfast).

Aberdeen has a new Bus Station
DBA have been acting as Transportation Engineers and Highway Engineers for the Union Square Development in Aberdeen for over 10 years and, at long last, we are seeing evidence of our hard work on site. The bus station is complete – the photo shows the new bus station dwarfing the existing dilapidated bus-shack! The rail station (in the background) is also being renovated. All are encompassed under the Union Square shopping centre development – a £100M addition to Aberdeen’s retail offering.
